International Organization for Migration (IOM) is looking for a
Translation and Clerical Assistant according to the terms of reference
below. Interested candidates are invited to submit their applications to

Position title : Translation and Clerical
Assistant

Duty Station : Jakarta (outposted to Directorate
General of Immigration)

Classification : Employee, Grade 4

Type of Appointment : Special, three month, with possibility
of extension

Estimated starting date: As soon as possible

General Functions:

Under the direct supervision of the In-house Consultant, the Translation
and Clerical Assistant will provide translation and general clerical
duties assistance to facilitate the implementation of project activities
under IOM’s Capacity Building for Imigrasi in Migration Management
Information Systems.
Specific Duties
The following specific duties have been identified to provide a clear
understanding of the position and the principal roles and
responsibilities expected but should not be considered absolute and
exhaustive.

1. Undertake written translation of technical and non-technical
documents principally from English to Bahasa Indonesia and occasionally
vice-versa.

2. Assist as required in internal and external meetings with
facilitating understanding of Bahasa Indonesia discussions and
clarifying inputs from the In-house Consultant.

3. Inform the In-house Consultant without delay any
problems/concerns identified in undertaking written translations
particularly where these concern matters of technical terminology
understanding.

4. Provide general clerical support to the In-house consultant in
the preparation of documents and/or presentations on technical and
related project matters, including researching topics of relevance.

5. Provide support to the In-house consultant in liaising with
persons internally or external organizations where requirements
necessitate the use of Bahasa Indonesia.

6. Perform any other duties which may be assigned from time to time
and are commensurate with the position

Desirable qualifications:

Completion of tertiary education, preferably with a focus on English
language and/or translation/interpretation studies. At least two years
experience in translation/ interpretation.

A reasonable understanding of technical concepts and technology in the
field of Information Technology. Demonstrated capacity to research
topics of relevance via the internet or contact with appropriate
organizations/companies.

An understanding of Indonesian immigration policy and processes would be
an advantage.

Ability to explain and present technical information relating to
information technology; prepare written documentation in a clear and
concise style and ability to manage workload preferred.

Able to work with minimum supervision and maintain composure under
pressure.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel) is expected. Well
versed in written and oral communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and
English.
